How does Enlighten work?
Enlighten works by increasing the teeth's permeability to oxygen, which breaks down stain molecules. It is a combination treatment, meaning that there are two weeks of home whitening followed by a one-hour visit in surgery at the end.
How white will my teeth get?
Enlighten can whiten up to 16 shades lighter. Results may vary, but if used correctly all teeth will whiten dramatically.
Will they look too white?
No, natural teeth rarely look too white. Sometimes very white crowns or veneers can look unnatural as they are made from porcelain.
Will my crowns, veneers or fillings change colour?
No, whitening only works on natural teeth. You may need to replace restorations after whitening.
Will it hurt?
Sensitivity can be a side effect. The good news is that it's only temporary and with Enlighten you will be given de-sensitising swabs, which work immediately. You will also receive a tube of Tooth Serum toothpaste to brush with while you wait for your trays to be made. This helps to prepare the teeth for whitening and reduce the risk of sensitivity.
How long does the process take?
Two weeks after your first visit your custom made trays will arrive. These are thin and comfortable and must be worn overnight for 14 nights. Then you return to the surgery for the second treatment, which takes 40 minutes.
How long does it last?
Results can last indefinitely with maintenance, including routine hygiene appointments and ‘top-up’ whitening, which you can do at home one night a month.
