FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PHILIPS ZOOM! WHITESPEED IN-CHAIR WHITENING

What should I expect?

You will need an examination to ensure you are suitable for whitening. It is also advisable to have your teeth cleaned before the treatment, which lasts approximately one hour.

You will lie in the dental chair with a soft mouth guard in place to protect your lips and ensure you are in a comfortable resting position. The gums, cheeks and lips will be protected so the whitening solution can be applied safely. Once the product is on your teeth, the Philips Zoom! Lamp is used to activate the whitening agent.

There will be four 15-minute sessions of whitening during the hour-long appointment. You will also receive custom-made whitening trays and a take-home whitening kit to top-up your smile when needed.

How long does the process take?

Philips Zoom! In-Chair treatment takes approximately an hour but all whitening treatments take two visits and include check-ups, X-rays and a clean.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes. Studies have shown that when carried out by a professional using EU compliant products, whitening is safe for your teeth and gums.

Will it be uncomfortable?

Your mouth will be in a comfortable resting position during the procedure and you will still be able to swallow. There is also little to no sensitivity reported, however you may experience an awareness of the whitening happening.

What are the side effects of whitening?

The most common side effect is sensitivity. All Philips Zoom! products contain special ingredients (potassium nitrate and Amorphous Calcium Phosphate) that are proven to help reduce sensitivity, protect enamel and improve the lustre of teeth for a brighter smile.

How long will results last?

Whitening treatments help reduce existing discolouration, but through food, drink and lifestyle choices they can discolour again. Maintenance whitening at home can help combat this along with routine hygiene appointments.

What causes discolouration?

Red wine, coffee, tea and dark coloured foods/drinks all contribute to staining. Some medications, ageing, smoking and trauma can also cause tooth discolouration.
